MEET OUR TEAM

Optimal Strategix Group brings together a diverse and seasoned group of executives who share a common goal: uncovering what drives customer decision-making. Our executive team is experienced in helping companies uncover opportunities for growth in Life Sciences, Retail, Consumer Goods, Energy and Financial Services.

Dr. Sukumar is the Founder and CEO of OSG. Passionate that the only way to drive growth is by becoming customer centric, Dr. Sukumar has worked on a large number of engagements, providing to our clients both methodological guidance on the use of behavioral analytics and continuous guidance on how to leverage the analytics for better decision making and continued growth.

Prior to founding OSG, Dr. Sukumar spent over twenty years as an academic, teaching marketing strategy and advanced analytics at top MBA and Ph.D. programs across the globe. He served as an Academic Dean for a global business school and has served as an expert witness on a number of patent infringement and class action law suits. As a renowned thought leader in the industry, he has been interviewed and quoted in notable publications such as Forbes, HBR and Inc magazine.

Dr. Sukumar has an MBA and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in Marketing and Business Administration, and B.S., Mechanical Engineering, from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India.

 

Dr. Satya Varagoor is Executive Vice President and Global Head of Operations. Responsible for excellence in customer experience, she makes sure all our clients get the highest value out of OSG's products and client teams.

Dr. Varagoor brings to OSG many years of experience on insights and analytics. She started her career at the BASES Group, and worked for companies like BMC Software, Coca-Cola Company (Minute Maid), Bristol Myers Squibb, and most recently with Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a Johnson and Johnson Company). During her career, she provided deep insights and analytics for products from pre-launch to post- commercialization.

Dr. Varagoor has a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Houston and a BA in Mathematical Statistics and MA in Operations Research from Delhi University, India and Pennsylvania State University.

 

Carl Aloi is Chief Financial Officer. As a Finance expert, Carl ensures that all our project and product deliveries are executed in the most efficient manner. In his role, he continues to strive to ensure that our clients see a very high ROI from their engagement with OSG.

Carl has more than twenty-five years of experience in various financial and operational roles. After starting his career in public accounting, he progressed through multiple Controller positions, improving processes and helping companies become lean and efficient. As the VP Finance at AppLabs Technologies, he helped the company grow more than tenfold in revenue in three years. At American Thoracic Society, Carl helped complete a turnaround, and at Identropy, Inc. he assisted the company on a pathway for continued growth.

Carl has a BSBA and an MBA from Rider University and is a CPA in the State of New Jersey.

 

Krishnan Varagur is the Senior Vice President, Technology Solutions at OSG. He and his team have built a great technology infrastructure at OSG, striving hard to ensure the security and privacy of data and building a great team of technologists, engineers and developers. Krishnan's team looks to continuously embrace new cutting edge technologies, developing new ways to implement superior algorithms for predictive analytics.

Prior to joining OSG, Krishnan served as the CTO at RSG Systems, a New York based technology company building their offshore Development Center. Additionally, as a senior software consultant, he consulted at various media, entertainment and publishing industries and worked for a retail bank in Sydney, Australia for five years developing distributed bank solutions.

Krishnan graduated from the University of Madras earning a B.Tech Degree in Chemical Engineering, an M.Tech Degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He holds a copyright for his work in developing a language translation facility.

 

Giri Iyer is the Head of OSG's Technology Analytics and Partnerships at OSG. As a thought leader and pioneer in driving technology innovations at OSG, Giri is deeply involved in collaborative development of new products with clients engaged in Clinical Trials, Health Informatics, Energy, and Retail industries. He is also engaged with partners for successful integration of new data sources and integrating these with OSG's proprietary behavioral analytics platform to identify growth opportunities.

Giri has close to three decades of experience in advanced analytics in the healthcare, energy and retail sectors. He has worked extensively on P&L management, corporate strategy and business development at GE Healthcare and Energy, and IT at Compaq, Philips, and Siemens.

Giri has a Masters from Thunderbird University and B.S. from National Institute of Technology, India.

 

Jothiram leads OSG's sales and operations in the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions from our offices in Bengaluru, India. He works closely with our clients in India, Singapore, China, and the Middle East to deliver outstanding customer experiences. He has over fourteen years of experience in technology, healthcare and B2B sectors, with a focus on P&L management, corporate strategy and business development. Prior to OSG, Jothiram was head of marketing at Johnson & Johnson for a large business unit.

Jothi holds an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a Masters degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.

 

OSG Team Bios

Michael S. Duffey has held executive finance positions at a broad range of both public and private banking, manufacturing, and professional service companies, including First Advantage, IRI, Covansys Corporation, APW and M.A. Hanna Company. He helped navigate these businesses through successful transformations including consolidating numerous acquired businesses, optimizing operations, and repositioning each of these businesses for accelerated revenue growth.

Michael earned his undergraduate degree in accounting at Loyola University and his masters in economics, finance and international business at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

 

Michael Hammons is a co-founder, Managing Partner, and Member of the Investment Committee of the Sustainability Growth Fund. Michael Hammons has over 25 years of leadership experience in building operational value for portfolio companies. Previously, Michael Hammons was a Partner with SAIL Venture Partners, a leading private equity cleantech firm. Prior to private equity, he held senior leadership positions in the US and internationally. These leadership positions including CEO at Vigilistics, CEO at Nexiant, CEO at ARGO Tracker, VP of Global Operations at Cogent Communication, and Director of the South American Automotive Practice at Ernst & Young Consulting, headquartered in Sao Paulo.

Michael Hammons currently is the Chairman of one corporate board, one university board and The White House Roundtable on Manufacturing Technology Scale Up. Recognized as an expert in clean-tech, business development, supply chain, finance, operations, manufacturing, product development and logistics, Michael Hammons has spoken at multiple conferences and written numerous articles. He has also received multiple awards throughout his career, including Top 100 Most Innovative Vendors from Supply and Demand Chain Executive and Deloitte and Touche Fast 500. He earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a master's in business administration from Harvard Business School.

Financial Services

Frank T Gencarelli has over thirty years' experience in the US life insurance industry as a leader in sales, marketing, distribution management and product line management. Most recently with Legal & General America (Banner Life and William Penn Life) as SVP, sales, marketing and product management, Frank oversaw a near-doubling of sales over his seven-year tenure to unprecedented levels for the company. Prior to that, he led private placement life insurance distribution for a specialty company (now part of Lombard, International). For over twenty years with Genworth and ancestor companies, he led distribution management, product development, product line management and marketing for several sectors of the business - life, SPIA's and fixed and variable deferred annuities. Frank holds degrees in mathematics from the University of Virginia and MIT, and is well known for his creative voice in espousing the value of life insurance for American families and businesses.

 

SV Rangan, IFG Worldwide's lead director comes with over twenty-five years of experience in leadership positions at global financial services firms - Citigroup, MetLife and AIG. His last corporate role before IFG was as President of AIG's multi-billion-dollar international life business.

The portfolio included leading companies in Japan, Korea, China, UK and Ireland amongst other markets. He has provided strategic direction and execution lead on growth and business transformation initiatives across the globe. SV has hands on experience of building several successful businesses for the above companies in both developed and emerging markets.

He has mentored several future business heads and CEOs in his career.

 

Life Sciences

Paulo Moriera is the Vice President of Global Clinical Operations- External Innovation at EMD Serono, Inc. For Paulo, it's all about the patient. He wants to help put new medicines on the market that will make a difference in people's lives, see the eradication of at least one form of cancer, and continuously make rare diseases even rarer. He stays firmly focused on patient safety and what is in the best interest of the person receiving the therapies and medicines that EMD Serono is developing. He passionately advocates bridging the gap between his trial teams and the patients, and encourages his teams to thank, recognize, and support the patients enrolled in the trials.

Paulo holds a B.S from Salve Regina University.

 

Dr Jeff Kasher is the President of Patients Can't Wait, LLC. He is a pharmaceutical development change catalyst with a passion for improving outcomes, bringing patients and research sites into the development process, and dramatically decreasing time to market. His experience includes novel product development from bench through market launch, research and clinical trial leadership, innovation center start up, and new industry paradigm creation. Prior to Patients Can't Wait, Dr. Kasher occupied several key positions at Eli Lilly and Company.

Dr. Kasher is a Post-Doctoral Fellow from the Yale University School of Medicine, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the State University of New York Upstate.

 

Craig Lipset is head of clinical innovation within global product development at Pfizer. Craig's team is impacting clinical research through digital tools, innovative research approaches and game-changing collaborations. Craig previously served as venture partner in Pfizer Venture Investments (Pfizer's VC arm), where he focused on diversifying the company's $50M annual budget for private investments in the areas of diagnostics and health technology. He was also senior director in molecular medicine, where he spearheaded initiatives driving innovation in clinical research and personalized medicine by drawing upon tools from health information technology, telemedicine, and eHealth.

Craig brings over fifteen years of leadership and innovation in the field of drug development. He previously served as Associate Vice President of program management at Adnexus Therapeutics (acquired by Bristol-Myers Squibb), and on the founding management team for Perceptive Informatics (now part of PAREXEL International). He has been listed among the PharmaVOICE most inspiring people in the life sciences, Pharmaceutical Executive's emerging leaders, and AlleyWatch Who's Who in eHealth. Outside of Pfizer, Craig serves on the board of directors for the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research and for the MedStar Health Research Institute, and is a mentor at health tech accelerator Blueprint Health.

 

Jack is a research advocate and Principal at Jack-Whelan LLC. He is a cancer survivor and active participant in clinical trials for an incurable blood cancer. He is a public speaker and motivator, a strong proponent of patient personal involvement in their care and a strong proponent of a healthy biopharmaceutical and medical care industry. Using business skills from his career as a Wall Street research analyst in information technology and sales VP, he helps bridge the communications gap between life sciences, medical pros and patients as a research advocate.

Jack is recognized as a thoughtful Patient Opinion Leader (POL) and research advocate in global markets. Some of the topics for which Jack has developed a deep personal interest and knowledge include the ePatient, clinical trials, personalized medicine, patient and research advocacy and healthcare disparities. As an active advocate in legislative circles, Jack has testified before State and Federal Government lawmakers concerned with oral chemotherapy parity, step aka "fail first" therapy, specialty tiers, biosimilars and companion diagnostics CDx.

He is active with LLS, AACR, ASCO, DIA, RDLA, ACRES, RAN and BIO's advocacy groups and completed professional advocacy programs provided by these organizations.
